The 2026 fixture list spreads 74 league matches across eight playing weeks, with two off-weeks reserved for international fixtures and a small buffer for rain-affected matches. Double-headers land on Saturday and Sunday, with afternoon and evening fixtures sharing the day's broadcast window.

Venue rotation
Each franchise plays its home matches at its primary venue, with standbys for international fixtures and weather issues. The MA Chidambaram in Chennai remains a slow turner for the second half of the season; the Wankhede in Mumbai plays true batting-friendly from match 1; Eden Gardens in Kolkata sees a noticeable drop-off as the season cools.

Slow turner, particularly after the eighth over. Dew has a big impact on the second innings.

Batting-friendly throughout the season. Faster outfield than average.

Spinners gain a noticeable edge as the surface wears in the second half of the match.
Playoff schedule
Four playoff fixtures are scheduled across two weekends. The top two from the league stage get two lives — they meet in Qualifier 1 and the winner proceeds directly to the final. The losers of Qualifier 1 face the winners of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2.
Reserve days are scheduled for Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2, and the Final. The Eliminator has no reserve day because the two teams who lose out have already had ten-day windows to recover.
Reserve days
Reserve days are typically the day after the scheduled fixture. If the original date is already part of a double-header, the reserve day shifts forward by one. For the final, the reserve is the following Monday unless that clashed with the start of the playoffs in the following season.

We will publish the actual played date for any rain-affected match here as soon as the league confirms it. Until then, treat the originally scheduled date as a placeholder.
Change log
Fixture changes do happen during a season. A venue swap, a date shift to manage double-headers, a reschedule around an ICC commitment. The change log below records every change that we know about.
April 14: RR vs CSK moved from 19:30 to 15:30 on weather advisory. April 12: Venue swap between Bengaluru and Chennai due to a stage maintenance issue, no date change.

Are reserve days used often?
Yes — at least one reserve day has been used in eight of the last eleven IPL seasons. The 2026 schedule has three reserve days built in for the playoff fixtures.
What happens if a league match is rained out entirely?
Each side gets a point. There is no reserve day for league matches in 2026, so a wash-out is a shared point with no further play.

Do fixture dates shift during the season?
